I have taken notice that in video cmareas, special detectors help to aim automatically. These sensors involving some camcorders change in contrast, while others employ a beam involving infra-red (IR) light, especially in low lighting. Higher spec cmareas oftentimes use a blend of both techniques and may have Face Priority AF where the dslr camera can See' a face as you concentrate only on that.
